Here are the tentative rules for the 2003 Gloucester County High School Programming Contest, to be hosted via the Internet at Rowan University on Saturday, 15 March 2003. The contest is scheduled to start at 8:45am.
Whatever form these rules have on the morning of the contest shall be considered official for the contest. (They probably won't change much between now and the contest.)
- Any clarifications needed to these rules shall be made by the contest organizers. Judgements of the organizers are final.
- Contestants must be students at a high school in Gloucester County, New Jersey.
- Students may compete in teams no larger than two, or may compete individually.
- Each team may have use of one keyboard, one mouse, and one monitor. No scanners are permitted.
- Except for compilers, environments, and associated standard files (such as the C++ header file "iostream.h"), no electronic or machine-readable materials may be used by any team.
- Any printed materials of interest may be used by any team.
- Teams will have two and one-half (2 1/2) hours to complete the programming problem.
- No programming assistance may be provided to the team by anyone. Students may be given assistance for difficulties with hardware, or network connections, but not with any aspect of programming.
- To ensure unbiased judging, programs may not include the names of the students or their school in their text or comments. Each program, when mailed, should be accompanied by the names of the programmers and school, which will be removed before the programs are judged.
- The judges' decisions are final.
