Observing Notes From Hubble and Non-Visible Wavelengths

Hubble Space Telescope
On 28 October 09:08 UT and 7 November 04:10 UT Jim Bell (Cornell University) and the Hubble Heritage team will observe Mars. The first date will be near Mars closest approach and the second near Mars opposition. This particular observation will be the closest to zero phase angle ever observed with HST and one of the scientific efforts will be to study the "opposition surge" effect.

The first images have been posted at both the Hubble Site Newsdesk and the Hubble Heritage site. You can also find them here on this site with notes by Jim Bell.

Ultraviolet Observations
Near-Infrared Observations
The team of Diana Blaney (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory), David Glenar (Goddard Space Flight Center), and David Klassen (Rowan University) were awarded two partial nights at the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii. These observations will be made using SpeX, a facility imaging spectrograph in order to study surface sulfates and atmospheric thermal structure. They will be looking in the wavelength region between 4.4–5.1 µm.
Sub-Millimeter Observations
