GROUND RULES

Object-Oriented Programming and Data Abstraction

Prof. S. Bergmann

Here are the ground rules for this course. All students are responsible for compliance with these rules.

  1. Announcements and answers to questions will be posted through the Rowan Portal email system. Students are responsible for checking this email daily, or having it forwarded automatically to their preferred email service.

  2. Students who will miss a test or exam must notify the instructor BEFORE the test or exam.

  3. Make-up tests and exams are always more difficult.

  4. Lab assignments should be completed during the lab session in which they are assigned. Students who are present for the entire lab session and are unable to complete the lab in the time allotted may be granted half credit if a correct solution is emailed or shown to the instructor before the beginning of the next scheduled lab session. Students who do not attend a lab session for any reason should complete the work on their own time, but will not receive grade credit for that lab session.

  5. Students may work in teams of two on lab projects. Both students on a team should contribute to the project, and take turns sitting in the "driver's seat". No two students may pair up for more than two lab sessions.

  6. Students may work in teams on the homework assignments as long as all members of the team contribute. Submit one copy of the solutions with all team members names shown.

  7. Late homeworks will be assessed a two point penalty, on a scale of 10, for each week (or fraction thereof) late.

  8. Students may not withdraw during the last four weeks of the semester.

  9. Students may withdraw after mid-term only in cases of extreme emergency such as prolonged illness or other circumstances beyond the student's control.

  10. Students who have completed a significant portion of the course may be assigned a grade of Incomplete only in cases of extreme hardship, such as prolonged illness.

  11. Students should be aware that they may not register for the same class more than twice.

  12. Students who have been attending class regularly and have been making a serious effort are welcome to see the instructor for additional help during office hours.
