Using the HP designjet 650C to to print a poster from powerpoint
You must have permission from a member of the CS department before
you use the large format printer!!!!!!
You may not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES load paper or ink yourself. If the plotter is out of either, or
the wrong sized roll is loaded, see Professors Spencer or Kay
- Design a ppt slide that is at most 36 inches wide (these
directions are for printing a 36x48 inch landscape poster). Be sure to
leave some margin.
- Log on to the computer (AL-20) next to the printer
- Make sure that the printer power is on (the display
should say “STATUS Ready to plot”)
The power button is on the lower left side of the printer.
- Select file->print (do not
click on print icon)
- Select HP Designjet 650C from the drop
down menu of printers (next to Name)
- Click on Properties
- Make sure that the "Roll" option button is selected and make sure
that 36 inch roll is selected from the drop-down menu
- click on the "size" drop-down menu, and select the "edit paper
list" choice at the bottom of the list.
- Under "select a form" choose "custom paper size"
- Select "Custom 1" from the drop-down custom paper sizes menu
- Adjust the width to 48 (or the appropriate setting) and the
height to 36 (or appropriate setting)
- under "Used standards" make sure that all boxes are unchecked
- Select OK on the paper sizes menu
- select the quality you want in the options menu (regular is fine)
- set orientation to landscape
- make sure that "no scaling" is checked
- click on OK on the Properties menu
- On the print menu, make sure that none of the check boxes at the
bottom of the page are selected, then hit OK.
- Sit back and watch it print. It will even cut the paper itself.
Once it begins to print, babysit the printer. If you notice that it
isn't
printing what you expect, press the cancel button. DON'T WASTE OUR
EXPENSIVE PAPER!!!!!
