Using the HP designjet 500 to to print a poster from powerpoint
You must have permission from a member of the CS department before you use the large format printer!!!!!!
You may not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES load paper or ink yourself. If the plotter is out of either, or
the wrong sized roll is loaded, see Professors Spencer or Kay
- Design a ppt slide that is at most 24 inches wide (these directions are for printing a 24x36 inch landscape poster). Be sure to leave some margin.
- Log on to the computer next to the printer
- Make sure that the printer power is on (the display should have
something on it. The power button is a big blue button on the lower left side of
the printer.
- Select file->print
- Select HP Designjet 500 from the drop down menu of printers (next to Name)
- Click on Properties
- Make sure that the "Roll" option button is selected
and make sure that 24 inch roll is selected from the drop-down menu
- click on the "size" drop-down menu, and select the "edit paper list" choice at the bottom of the list.
- Under "select a form" choose "custom paper size"
- Select "Custom 1" from the drop-down custom paper sizes menu
- Adjust the width to 36 (or the appropriate setting) and the height to 24 (or appropriate setting)
- under "Used standards" make sure that all boxes are unchecked
- Select OK on the paper sizes menu
- select the quality you want
- select your optimization for drawing or images
- set orientation to landscape
- click on OK on the Properties menu
- On the print menu, make sure that none of the check boxes at the bottom of the page are selected, then hit OK.
- Sit back and watch it print. It will even cut the paper itself.
Once it begins to print, babysit the printer. If you notice that it isn't
printing what you expect, press the orange cancel button. DON'T WASTE OUR
EXPENSIVE PAPER!!!!!
