Web Programming Syllabus

Text:  Stephen Spainhour & Robert Eckstein, Webmaster in a Nutshell

Grading:

There will be small-scale homeworks (allotted time about a week).

There will be a semester project which counts 50%.

Homework policy:

Except as noted otherwise (such as for Homework 1), you may work in pairs on the homework. If you choose to do so, just make one copy of the homework, and include each participant's name at the bottom. Each person can then link to this one copy from their Homework List. Please list the names of the page creators on the page, and list who you worked with on your Homework Page. Do not work in groups larger than two.

Course prerequisite:  Data Structures and Algorithms and Computer Lab Techniques, or equivalent preparation.

You should be able, before taking this class, to write working programs to search an array or a linked list, sort data, and produce reasonably-precise output. You should also be familiar with the Unix filesystem, directory heirarchy, and file permissions.
