The `Powered-By' Page
Notice, incidentally, that the pages were all edited and tested on machines running FreeBSD, some with Intel CPUs and some with AMD CPUs. Right now, you are looking at them as they are served by a machine with four Sparc CPUs, running Solaris. They'd work equally well under Linux or IRIX. (The old Elvis was an SGI, and ran IRIX, and everything worked as it is now: porting was trivial, because nothing had to be done.) If you want portability, so you're not locked into one vendor or supplier, you want open-source tools. If you want scalability, so you can switch from a relatively small computer to big powerful servers, you want open-source tools.
